Kelly's School of Dance
offers Classical Ballet, Pointe, Tap and Jazz. Classes provided for boys and girls ages 3 through adult. The Dance Season begins in October and continues through May with a Dance Recital held in the Spring. Students are also given the opportunity to perform for events and organizations in the community during the year. Summer Classes are also offered June through September. New students are accepted at any time.
Students who study Ballet learn the language of Ballet, Directions of the body and positions of the feet and arms. Along with receiving a strong foundation in technique, the students benefit with better posture, improved coordination and stronger muscles. Tap, Jazz and Ballet instruction are offered in Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels. Lyrical is also offered and allows the student more expression and appreciation for the music.

Kelly was born across the Pacific Ocean on the island of Guam and later moved to Southern California where a teacher strongly encouraged her mother to enroll her in dance classes. In 1965 at the age of 5, she began her first ballet class in Newburgh, New York. She later graduated from Diana Leigh Boisseau School of Dance in Colonial Heights, Virginia, who served as a judge for the International Ballet Competitions. And was a former student of Thalia Mara, author of the book "The Language of Ballet ." Kelly danced with the Concert Ballet Company in Richmond, Virginia and studied under Julia Mildred Harper. She performed in Staunton, Va. with Senator John Warner and actress Elizabeth Taylor in attendance. Also, she danced with VSU Dance Company and completed Dance Therapy courses.
While dancing in New York she studied under David Howard, Charles Kelley, the legendary Luigi, and Chicago's Gus Giordano. Kelly also attended classes with Prima Ballerina Alexandra Danilova and studied under Gene Hammett. Kelly is a post- graduate of Dance Masters of America, Teacher Training School at Kent State University. She has worked as a contracted choreographer and performer for the Fort Lee, Va. U.S. Military Base. Kelly is a certified instructor providing dance instruction since 1982.
